today and the first paint-out along Denver's historic 13th Ave. The kick-off was held at the Denver Capitol where there was a ceremony and gathering to start this years festival and to celebrate the inclusion and joining of the Colorado Mountain Parks and Denver Plein Air. The photos above are of the different speakers at the ceremony this afternoon.
I set up for a morning painting on 13th ave facing the DAM, and also completed a small study at the Capitol during the ceremony, that was about 25 minutes working time. Quite happy with both you can see the WIP shots at top.
I am psyched for the mountain parks inclusion, as it will offer a variety of palette shifts, as well as make for a more diverse show in November at the Denver Public Library. I will post finished shots of all the works and more as the Paint-out and personal scenes are executed. Thanks to Karma Leigh for the progress photo of me working on the portrait study of the civil war soldier. Head over to GTMD.org for more info and thanks for stopping in.
